No need to tell Carlos Silva how crazy it is that the Seattle Mariners gave him a $48 million, four-year contract. "It is wild. Everything is wild. Wild is having this life," the 28-year-old right-handed sinkerballer said. Silva, 13-14 last season with the Minnesota Twins, finalized a deal that includes a $5 million signing bonus and a $12 million mutual option for 2012 with a $2 million buyout.



Phils agree with OF Jenkins, RHP Durbin (AP)

Geoff Jenkins wants Philadelphia Phillies fans to know he's willing to give up his body when he roams the outfield. Maybe not his face, but definitely his body. Jenkins and the Phillies agreed Tuesday to a $13 million, two-year contract, giving the defending NL East champions another veteran for an outfield that lost Aaron Rowand.

Farfetched or not, that's what the Red Sox closer insists happened to the souvenir from the final out of Boston's sweep this year. Really, Papelbon blamed it on his bulldog, Boss. "He plays with baseballs like they are his toys," Papelbon told the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American.

Dontrelle Willis looked at the Detroit Tigers' snow-covered field and his familiar smile grew even wider. The former Florida Marlins pitcher and California native wasn't about to let the white stuff or frigid temperatures spoil his big day. Willis agreed to a $29 million, three-year deal with the Tigers on Thursday, just two weeks after he was acquired in the biggest trade of the offseason.
